The foreign exchange market is open 24-hours a day, except on weekends. As one financial centre closes, another one opens.

We've summarised below Forex market hours across financial centres (London, NYC, Sydney and Tokyo), and explained the best times to trade.

Best time to trade Forex

The foreign exchange market is most active when sessions overlap across financial centres. For example, trading volumes for the EUR/USD and GBP/USD currency pairs are greatest when London and New York are both open. This is usually when spreads are their lowest.

How to seize opportunities

You could be asleep when trading opportunities arise. That's why it's a good idea to use a trading robot to open or close positions, on your behalf, even when you're unavailable. It's also best practice to host these trading robots on a Virtual Private Server, often abbreviated as VPS, as a VPS is always online.

A number of brokers now offer a VPS for your trading robots. However, FP Markets stands ahead of the competition. It supports all trading styles, including trading bots known as Expert Advisors. FP Markets goes one step further by offering a free VPS if you make a deposit of US$ 1,000 or more (or equivalent) and meet low monthly minimum volume requirements.
